But why do you need this unique backup battery system? The answer is quite simply - vehicles and equipment now on the market offer "uniquely" abled drivers unprecedented options to endow freedom of mobility. Modified vans, power lifts, power doors, power transfer seats, hi tech adaptive controls, etc. all contribute to making people mobile and also have a very important thing in common-they require power to operate, and this power must be available at all times to ensure the safety of the driver.
Our opinion at EMC is that a single battery means a single point of failure. At a minimum, if the main vehicle battery loses power, a backup battery is a must be available for emergency starting and/or emergency egress. This requirement is a must have, not a nice to have.
As a matter of fact, the state of Texas and Florida require this system in vehicles with high tech driving equipment.

AVPS is intelligent. It continually monitors the condition of each battery. It knows when and how much to charge each battery, alerting the operator to use the backup battery when needed, for starting or emergency egress. This all happens automatically. When the backup battery is required, the operator pushes a single button on the AVPS Display or a remote switch. It is that simple. The technology is state of the art, but the operation is uncomplicated.
